Poorly engineered

When I received this, I suspected it was not going to work, but installed it anyway. Sure enough...it leaked and waterlogged the insulation of my $200 cooler. Unlike normal bulkheads, the inside nut is not one piece with the pass through tube, but screws on. It doesn't matter what kind of seal you get between the rubber washer and the inside of the cooler, there is nothing to prevent liquids from leaking through the threads. Can someone please make a bulkhead long enough to pass through a cooler that actually works?

Hello Jerry, I would like to help you get this working properly. After a few decades and literally dozens of different coolers, there are a few key points to getting a good bulkhead seal. First is drilling the right sized hole, basically you want it as close to the outside diameter of the threads, for 1/2' threads that means a 13/16 to 7/8' hole. Second is using the right combination of gasket and lock nut, This bulkhead works best with only the silicone oring, and the grooved locknut fastened tightly against the inside of the cooler. It may seem too simple and like there is not much thickness to squish down when you tighten it, BUT that groove in the locknut pushes the oring against the threads when you tighten it which is what is going to give you the best seal. If for any reason you are still dis-satisfied, give us a call and we will be happy to take care of you.
